FRENCHLOVE

Every autumn always reminds me of London, the dark, the traffic lights, the cold apartments and all that tea to keep warm, then I miss all the buzz and inspiration but most of all the great fashion and art exhibitions. Guy Bourdin was an huge inspiration for me years ago and still is...I have kept these postcards on my fridge...from the exhibition "Guy Bourdin (2003)" at either the Barbican or National Portrait Gallery.

I love his photographs, so sexy and elegant but also a bit quirky and dramatic.

ILLUSTRATIONNOW

I came a cross this framed illustration (print) on a flea market last weekend and I love it! The shapes, the strokes and the fact that her hair is actually filled with birds, its so beautiful and weird at the same time.

Models@The Met

Great exhibition-but way to crowded! It reminds me a bit of how they usually display it at V&A in London, with different rooms for all the five eras , with the music of the time and the right costumes to set the mood-this was a beautiful journey trough the 50 years of fashion and supermodels that we know so well.

Going on a sunday-is not recommended since it was too crowded with people that normally is not into fashion at all-and makes all sorts of silly comments! But if you can not get enough of looking at the beautiful girls that have become icons of their time- this is really worth a visit.

Out of Africa

I have already seen this film a few times-but it was so perfect to watch it on the plane-to get in the right mode-for my first visit to Africa. Not Kenya though- but South Africa and Cape town to be more precise.

If you still havent seen this great classic movie-produced and directed by Sydney Pollack and starring one of my favorite on screen couples-Merryl Streep and Robert Redford (1985) you have been missing out! I just love this film, the story, the scenery, the photography, the costumes-it is just breathtaking!!! Its a beautiful and sad story based on the memoir
of danish author Karen Blixen " Out of Africa" published in 1937 under the pseudonym Isak Dinens. Portraing the life and love of Baroness Karen von Blixen-set in the in the beautiful backdrop of Kenya, then East Africa also giving a vivid snapshot of African colonial life in the last decades of the British Empire.
